Travel by plane
- The airport of Perugia (Umbria) is only 50 kilometers from Casa San Carlo. From April 2020, Transavia will fly to Perugia from Rotterdam/The Hague.
- Rome Fiumincino is the largest airport in Rome and is located on the southwest side of the city. To get to Casa San Carlo you first have to go around Rome; The distance is 178 kilometers. Follow the A1 motorway to the north (towards Florence) and drive into Umbria.
- Rome Ciampino is the airport on the south side of Rome (Lazio). From the airport it is 165 kilometers to Casa San Carlo. Ciampino is a small airport and easy to reach. It's easy to rent a car on the spot; then follow the A1 motorway to the north (towards Florence).
- The Amerigo Vespucci airport of Florence (Tuscany) is located 160 kilometers from Casa San Carlo. It is a tiny airport where you can quickly land and drive away; All you have to do is follow the A1 motorway in a southerly direction (towards Rome).
- Pisa (Tuscany) is the furthest away from Casa San Carlo, namely 240 km. Still, it is a great alternative, because it is a small airport and most of the journey is on the A1.
Directions from the A1
Directions from the A1 to Casa San Carlo:
- Follow the 'Autostrada del Sole A1' in the direction of Florence / in the direction of Rome.
- On the A1, take the FABRO exit. Once you have passed through the toll booth, turn left towards SAN CASCIANO DEI BAGNI, ORVIETO, CITTA DELLA PIEVE and FABRO SCALO (SS71).
- After about 1 kilometre turn left again, towards SAN CASCIANO DEI BAGNI, CITTA DELLA PIEVE, CHIUSI and PONTICELLI.
- After 2.3 kilometers you will see traffic lights, and on the right a sign for SANTA MARIA. Here you turn right. This means that you will cross a small, steep bridge.
- You drive straight ahead (you will see Monteleone on the hill right in front of you), you pass under the viaduct, until the T-junction. Here you turn left, towards MONTELEONE.
- After this, continue straight ahead (so you do NOT turn right again towards Monteleone), and you keep to this main road (with a slight bend to the left). After this, the road becomes unpaved.
- After 1.4 kilometers, turn right at the sign 'CASA SAN CARLO' and the sign 'VOCABOLO PERUMPETTO'. You now start to drive up, up 'our' mountain.
- Keep right on this road (you drive through the forest, all the way up; you do NOT take any side roads that go to the left!) and after 1.6 kilometers you will see Casa San Carlo looming diagonally to the right, with the village of Monteleone in the background.
- 800 meters later, turn right onto the CASA SAN CARLO driveway.
